What is embodying emotions?

Imagine your emotions as messengers, each carrying an important message for you. These messengers don’t just come knocking on the door of your mind; they also show up in your body. The way you feel physically—whether it’s a tightness in your chest when you’re anxious or a lightness in your step when you’re happy—is closely connected to what’s going on inside you emotionally.

In our therapy approach, we recognize that emotions aren’t just fleeting experiences; they’re powerful signals that can profoundly impact your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. When you ignore or suppress your emotions, it’s like ignoring those messengers at your door—they keep knocking louder and louder until you pay attention.

Instead, we’ll work together to listen to what your emotions and body are trying to tell you. Embracing and embodying your emotions and body in the healing process means allowing yourself to feel and express your feelings fully, without judgment or criticism. It’s about acknowledging the validity of your experiences and giving yourself permission to honour your emotions. Through this process, you can gain insight into yourself, find relief from emotional pain, and ultimately, move toward healing and growth.
